Lawyer Yusuf Ç. Allegedly Defrauds Victims, Including His Own Father, for Millions
Lawyer Yusuf Ç., registered with the Bursa Bar Association and working for a company that sells and services famous automobile brands, is facing charges of qualified fraud and forgery of official documents. It is alleged that he promised to sell automobiles at prices below the market value and defrauded 25 complainants of a total of 150 million lira.
The fraud came to light when the victims, who had paid significant sums to Yusuf Ç., were unable to reach him and filed a complaint. Following the complaint of 10 victims, an investigation was launched, and it was revealed that the lawyer had fled to Georgia.
In October 2023, Yusuf Ç. was apprehended and detained on the aforementioned charges. According to reports, he had also withdrawn 800 thousand liras from his father’s bank accounts, who is a judge, further complicating the case with familial implications.
In a statement, the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the detention of 19 more people in connection with the case. The Office also assured that the investigation is being conducted meticulously, and updates will be provided to the public regarding its progress and outcome.
