Deputy Prime Minister Announces Free Admission to Museums and Ruins During the Semester Break
During the upcoming semester break from 3 to 14 February, families in Cyprus will have the opportunity to visit museums and historical ruins free of charge, thanks to an initiative by Deputy Prime Minister Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Minister Fikri Ataoglu.
In a statement released by the Ministry, Minister Ataoğlu expressed the importance of making tourism and culture accessible to all segments of society. He emphasized the desire for children and families to spend their holiday periods in a culturally enriching way, by exploring the museums and historical sites connected to the country’s ancient heritage.
The goal of this initiative is to increase awareness of history and culture among young generations, as well as to foster a deeper appreciation for the country’s cultural heritage. Minister Ataoğlu encouraged all families with children to take advantage of this opportunity.
The list of places that families can visit free of charge during the semester break includes various museums and ruins in different districts of Cyprus. In Nicosia, visitors can explore the Museum of Stone Works, Barbarism Museum, National Struggle Museum, Lusinyan House, and Ecoşlı House. In Kyrenia, attractions such as Kyrenia Castle and Museums, Bellapais Monastery, St. Hilleri Castle, and Museum of Peace and Freedom are open for exploration. Additionally, in Famagusta – Pier and Güzelyurt – Lefke, various historical sites and museums are available for visitors to discover.
This initiative not only offers families a cost-effective way to spend quality time together during the holiday break but also provides a valuable educational experience that promotes a deeper understanding of Cyprus’s rich cultural heritage.
