Free Transportation on Selected Metro Lines in Turkey Starting January 1
Metro lines in Ankara, Istanbul, and Izmir will be free on January 1, according to a recent decision published in the Official Gazette. The Presidency announced that during the New Year holiday, several metro lines in these cities will be accessible to commuters at no charge.
Specifically, Başkentray in Ankara, Marmaray in Istanbul, Sirkeci-Kazlıçeşme Rail System Line, Gayrettepe-Istanbul Airport-Arnavutköy Metro line, and İZBAN in Izmir will be free for passengers to use on January 1. This decision aims to facilitate transportation for individuals celebrating the New Year in these metropolitan areas.
In addition to this transportation update, the Presidential General Secretariat was officially established, as reported in the latest issue of the Official Gazette. This administrative change signifies a new era in the government’s structure.
Meanwhile, a lingering issue with ATMs not accepting $50 and $100 banknotes continues to create problems for individuals trying to access cash. Despite updates to the machines, the crisis opportunism surrounding these specific denominations persists.
Overall, these recent developments highlight the ongoing efforts to improve public services and address existing challenges in various sectors, from transportation to financial transactions.
