From Hobby to Income: Creating a Workshop at Home
Örsan Sami Şener, a 38-year-old father from Mersin, has turned his hobby of wood carving into a successful source of income. What started as a simple passion in 2017 has now become a full-blown business, with Şener transforming a room in his house into a workshop where he creates and sells a variety of wooden products.
Over the years, Şener has honed his skills in wood art, producing knives, glasses, cups, plates, and various household and decorative items. He showcases his creations on social media platforms and through his workshop, attracting customers both locally and internationally. In fact, he has even received orders from abroad and specializes in crafting personalized souvenirs.
Speaking to a correspondent from AA, Şener expressed his enthusiasm for wood carving, stating that his interest has evolved into a true passion. He continues to improve his craft by learning from experienced masters and dedicating himself to the art form.
Despite the challenges of running a business from home, Şener is grateful for the opportunities it has brought him. He shared, “There are demands both from home and abroad. I have sent my products to many TV series and film producers. I have met many people on this occasion. I generally produce on wood and steel. I’m trying to turn wood into art.”
For Şener, each piece of wood holds the potential for something beautiful. He sees beyond the raw material, envisioning the final product before he even begins working. Through his dedication and talent, he has successfully turned his hobby into a thriving business, inspiring others to follow their passions and turn them into a source of income.
