From Unions to Extraordinary Technical Board: The Journey of Rette – BRTK

The Turkish Cypriot Secondary Education Teachers’ Union (KTOEÖS) and the Turkish Cypriot Teachers’ Union (KTÖS) have responded to a call for an extraordinary technical board sent by the Ministry of National Education.
In a joint statement, KTOEÖS President Selma Action and KTÖS President Mustafa Baybora expressed that the “secondary schools and secondary schools to be applied to the rules to be applied and discipline (amendment) regulation” is in contradiction with the Constitutional and National Education Law. As a result, the teacher unions have declined the invitation to the Board.
Despite this, the unions have stated that they are willing to discuss any regulations that are in accordance with the law. They are open to dialogue and are committed to ensuring that the education system in Northern Cyprus remains in line with legal standards.
It remains to be seen how the Ministry of National Education will respond to the unions’ concerns and whether a compromise can be reached to address the issues raised. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
