Gabar Oil Field Producing Almost 51 Thousand Barrels Daily
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar recently attended the ‘Energy Conversion – Renewable Energy 2035 Launch’ event, where he discussed Turkey’s progress in the energy sector. Minister Bayraktar highlighted Turkey’s goal of producing 9.1 billion cubic meters of gas per day by the first quarter of 2025, which will help meet the natural gas needs of 4 million households. He emphasized the importance of reducing Turkey’s current account deficit and energy import problem to strengthen the country’s economy.
Minister Bayraktar also mentioned Turkey’s achievements in energy over the last 20 years, describing it as a silent revolution. Turkey has significantly increased its energy capacity from 30 thousand Mega watts in 2002 to 114 thousand Mega watts today. The private sector now plays a significant role in the energy sector, with over 80 percent of the sector being privatized.
Furthermore, Minister Bayraktar outlined Turkey’s strategic priorities in energy, focusing on renewable energy, domestic resources, localization, natural gas and oil production, nuclear energy, energy efficiency, hydrogen, and new technologies. He stressed the importance of a modern infrastructure to support these goals, including smart grids, meters, and metering.
Looking to the future, Minister Bayraktar discussed Turkey’s plans to invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy, such as solar and wind power. The country aims to become a regional leader in energy and attract investments in the sector. Turkey is also making efforts to exploit its regional resources more effectively to drive economic growth.
