Game-changing merger: Two major telecom companies unite in Hungary

On January 1, 2025, big changes are happening in the telecommunications industry in Hungary. Vodafone Hungary and DIGI, two major telecom companies, have merged under the 4iG Group’s telecommunications brands. This merger means that Vodafone Hungary, DIGI, Antenna Hungária, and Invitech will now operate under a single brand: One.
The merger process may cause some temporary disruptions for Vodafone Hungary customers. From December 31, 2024, at 3:00 PM until January 2, 2025, at 7:00 AM, certain services such as online services, mobile payments, and the My Vodafone app will be unavailable. Additionally, websites associated with the former brands, like digi.hu and vodafone.hu, have been retired in favor of the new centralised site, one.hu, which will be launched soon.
Existing customers of Vodafone and DIGI can rest assured that their services will not be affected by the rebranding. Contracts and service terms will remain the same, and there will be no automatic changes to plans or tariffs.
Vodafone has been in the Hungarian market since 1999 and was acquired by 4iG Plc. in 2023 for HUF 660 billion (EUR 1.60 billion). This merger marks a significant change in Hungary’s telecommunications industry landscape.
