Gaza population hit hard by high casualties
The Ministry of Health in Gaza has released alarming figures regarding the impact of Israel’s recent attacks on the population. According to the Ministry, 7 percent of the 2.4 million people in Gaza were directly affected by the violence.
Ministry of Health General Manager Münir al-Burş stated in a written announcement that the death toll in Gaza has exceeded 50 thousand, describing the situation as a genocide. He pointed out that more than 25 thousand people require rehabilitation and long-term treatment, with 4 thousand 700 individuals having undergone amputations, including 850 children.
Al-Burş also highlighted the dire healthcare situation in Gaza, with hospitals struggling to cope with the high number of casualties. He warned that the current situation could worsen due to the comprehensive blockade imposed by Israel, which has severely impacted health and humanitarian efforts in the region.
In a disturbing development, the Israeli Army broke the ceasefire agreement and resumed violent attacks on Gaza. Since the restart of the attacks, over 670 Palestinians, including many elderly, women, and children, have been killed, and more than 1200 others have been injured.
The total number of Palestinian casualties in Gaza since October 7, 2023, now stands at 50 thousand 21 dead and 113 thousand 274 wounded. Israel has justified its actions by claiming that Hamas rejection of new ceasefire offers has forced them to act against the group.
Hamas, on the other hand, accuses Israel of restarting genocide against the Palestinian people and failing to abide by ceasefire agreements. The situation has led to tensions within Israel, with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu facing criticism for controversial political decisions, including the dismissal of the internal intelligence organization’s director, Şin-Bet. The shadow of these political moves looms over the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
