Gaziantep Commodity Exchange Joins Green Schools Project for Environmental Awareness
The Gaziantep Commodity Exchange has recently participated in the “Green Schools Project” initiated by the Turkish Cypriot Entrepreneur Women’s Association (GİKAD) and the International Final University (UFU) with a focus on sustainability. The project aims to increase environmental awareness and promote a culture of sustainable living among students.
Initially launched in 25 schools, the Green Schools Project has now expanded to 70 schools, with the Gaziantep Commodity Exchange joining with two additional schools, bringing the total number of participating schools to 72. A partnership agreement was signed between Gaziantep Commodity Exchange, GİKAD, and UFU to formalize their collaboration in the project.
The Green Schools Project involves the establishment of environmental clubs in pilot schools to educate students on nature-friendly practices, environmental issues, and solutions. The program includes environmental education sessions for teachers and students on topics such as erosion control, afforestation, biodiversity, recycling, waste management, energy and water conservation.
Schools implementing sustainable practices will be recognized with the “Green Flag Award,” which serves as a certification of their commitment to environmentally friendly initiatives. Additionally, the Green Door Project encourages businesses to adopt sustainability strategies and reduce carbon footprints through collaborations with 50 companies.
By fostering partnerships between schools and businesses, the Green Door Project aims to strengthen environmental sustainability efforts and promote real-world experiences for students while enabling companies to develop eco-friendly corporate social responsibility projects.
Overall, the Green Schools and Green Door Projects aim to enhance environmental awareness in both educational institutions and the business sector, contributing to a more sustainable future. These initiatives play a vital role in promoting environmental sustainability and nurturing a generation of environmentally conscious individuals and institutions.
