Gendarmerie Teams Injured After Patrol Vehicle Rolls Off Cliff in Kocaeli
Gendarmerie teams patrolling the Karamürsel district of Kocaeli encountered a dangerous accident when their vehicle rolled off a cliff. The incident, which took place at Aşıklar Hill in Karamürsel, resulted in two gendarmerie staff members sustaining injuries.
Reports indicate that the accident occurred as a result of snowfall in the region where the gendarmerie teams were on patrol. The slippery road conditions in the high-altitude area caused the driver to lose control of the steering wheel, leading to the vehicle plunging off the cliff. The two gendarmerie personnel were trapped inside the vehicle following the crash, prompting concerned citizens who witnessed the incident to notify the 112 Emergency Call Center.
Upon receiving the alert, health, firefighting, gendarmerie, and UMKE (National Medical Rescue Team) teams were dispatched to the scene. After a lengthy operation, which involved the combined efforts of firefighters, UMKE, and gendarmerie teams, the two injured personnel were successfully rescued from the vehicle.
Following initial medical treatment at the scene, the injured gendarmerie staff were transported to the hospital for further evaluation. Fortunately, it was reported that both individuals were in stable condition and recovering well.
The incident serves as a reminder of the risks and challenges faced by security forces during their duties, highlighting the importance of safety measures and vigilance while on patrol.
