The General Assembly of the Republic Parliament continues with current speeches.
– Barçın: “Does the number of expert soldiers retiring from expertise exceed the fingers of one hand?”
Republican Turkish Party Nicosia Deputy Devrim Barçın made a current speech on “Ministers who are indifferent to the problems and grievances of expert soldiers.”
Before starting his speech, Barçın criticized the empty seats in the Parliament, the absence of the ministers who should answer his questions and the importance of resolving the problems of expert soldiers for the realization of the conscientious objection demanded by the CTP.
As someone who has served in the military, Barçın expressed that he personally knows how expert soldiers put in effort and work to fulfill their duties. He pointed out that there is an anomaly in the scales of expert soldiers where new employees receive lower salaries compared to old employees, whereas in the public sector, employees who were hired with the “Migration Law” receive lower salaries. He emphasized the need to work on this issue as soon as possible to raise the salaries of old employees.
Barçın also highlighted the disparities in the pension fund and severance pay payments due to the lower salaries received by old expert soldiers and called for urgent action on this matter. He questioned whether the number of expert soldiers who retired from expertise is very low compared to those who entered as experts.
– Çavuş: “The government is doing what is necessary for a fair income distribution”
Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources Hüseyin Çavuş took the stand to respond. He stated that the government is taking the necessary steps for a fair income distribution and thanked Barçın for his sensitivity on this issue.
Talking about the importance of sincerity in the Cyprus issue, Çavuş emphasized that both sides need to be sincere if they want to reach an agreement.
– Toros: “Creating a controllable structure with a merit-based appointment system is the key to starting over”
Republican Turkish Party Girne Deputy Fikri Toros made a speech on the subject of “Political problems and corruption phenomenon.” He addressed the recent fires in the country and highlighted the importance of standard measures in fire-fighting.
Toros criticized the violations of laws and control mechanisms by political actors for personal and party interests, which lead to corruption and loss of cultural values. He emphasized the need for a fundamental restructuring and the establishment of a controllable structure with a merit-based appointment system.
In conclusion, Toros stressed the importance of aligning with global and EU standards, making the resolution of the Cyprus issue a non-political goal, and the involvement of major international actors in the process.
