“General Assembly Proceeds with Ongoing Speeches” – BRTK

Following the unanimous adoption of the Civil Aviation Department (Establishment, Duties and Working Principles) Amendment Law in the General Assembly of the Parliament, members of the parliament have begun to make their speeches regarding the issue. The first to speak was Republican Turkish Party (CTP) Deputy Doğuş Derya. Derya began by stating his reluctance to address Parliament Speaker Zorlu Töre as “mr. President” due to his lack of a vote for the Finance Inspection Board to conduct an audit in the parliament. Derya accused the government of “breaking its ties with the people” and “emptying the concepts of sovereignty, republic and being a state.” He emphasized that people should not exist for the state, but the state should exist for the people.

Derya went on to describe a corrupt group that has spent public resources for themselves and created a system based on violating the law and personal gain. He acknowledged that this system was created by the ancestors of today’s UBP and claimed that it led to economic dependence on Turkey. Derya criticized the ruling authoritarian group for marginalizing the population, leading to increased poverty and emigration. He questioned the motives of the rulers and criticized the UBP elites for their misuse of authority.

Next, CTP Deputy Erkut Şahali addressed the 13th Sports Council and the lack of implementation of previous agreements. He criticized the lack of budgetary allocations for new investments and infrastructure in sports, as well as the liberalization of electronic cigarette imports. Finally, Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu responded to the criticisms by emphasizing the importance of implementing decisions made in the sports council and the government’s commitment to full-time education.

The session continued with CTP Deputy Biray Hamzaoğulları’s concerns about carob purchasing and CTP Deputy Hüseyin Çavuş discussing barley purchasing from Turkey. The parliament sessions continue with a focus on various government policies and issues affecting the society.
