The 4th edition of the Girne Half Marathon was successfully held today in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus, for the benefit of animals in need. The Mayor of Girne, Murat Şenkul, announced that the event raised approximately 1.5 million TL for the cute friends. The marathon was sponsored by Pasha Group, and the TRNC Athletics Federation also contributed to its organization.

Participants of different nationalities, including Turkish, Ukrainian, Russian, German, and British citizens residing in the country, showed great interest in the event. Mayor Şenkul highlighted that such sporting events not only promote the country but also contribute to the development of sports tourism. He also announced that the marathon, which will be traditionally held in April, the most beautiful month of the island, will become a 42-kilometer full marathon in the coming years, as he has conversion goals for the event.

The winners in the 21 and 10 km races received prizes of 100 thousand TL in different classifications, and gift packages were also presented by the sponsors. All the income from the marathon will be used to enlarge the existing shelter, build a pet hotel, sterilize the cute friends, cover vaccination expenses, and provide them with loving homes.
