German Government’s Response to AI-Generated Fake Video of Chancellor Scholz

A video produced by a satirical and political initiative called the “Political Beauty Center” has caused controversy in Germany. The video features a manipulated version of a speech by Chancellor Scholz, giving the impression that he supports the so-called AfD ban.
German Government Spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit took to social media to address the video, expressing concern over its content. The manipulated image, created using artificial intelligence, includes a speech by Scholz in which he references the events that occurred in Chemnitz five years ago and the murder of Kassel Governor Walter Lübcke in June 2019. In the video, Scholz is quoted as saying that he will apply to the Federal Constitutional Court to ban the AfD.
The controversial video has sparked discussions about freedom of speech and the use of manipulated media for political purposes. The German government has made it clear that the video does not reflect Chancellor Scholz’s actual position on the AfD or any potential ban. As the debate continues, it remains to be seen how this incident will impact political discourse in Germany.
