German Ship Shot Down in Mediterranean, First in War: Middle East in Turmoil

The conflict between the Yemeni Houthis and the United States has escalated, with recent attacks targeting ships in the Red Sea and Israeli cities. The ongoing war has led to air strikes on Yemeni territory by American and British warplanes, as well as naval patrols around the Bab al-Mandab Strait by an international coalition led by the USA.
Despite these efforts, the Iranian-backed Houthis have managed to launch attacks on Israel, including the capital Tel Aviv, using kamikaze drones and ballistic missiles. The attacks have also targeted the southern city of Eilat, a popular resort on the Red Sea.
In response, the USA and England have carried out precision attacks on multiple underground weapons facilities in the west of Yemen, controlled by the Houthis. Using B-2 bombers, the airstrikes targeted underground missiles and utilized one-ton bombs called Mark-84.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin emphasized the precision of the attacks, stating that the B-2 Spirits have the capability to hit targets buried deep underground. The use of stealth aircraft in the airstrikes showcases the global strike capabilities of the United States.
The conflict in Yemen stems from a civil war that led to the central government’s defeat and subsequent clashes with the Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia. The years of warfare have resulted in a humanitarian crisis, with hundreds of thousands of people dead from bombings and starvation in the impoverished country on the Arabian Peninsula.
