Getting Ready for Winter: Festive Installations in Astana

The city of Astana is preparing for the winter season with the construction of nearly 60 ice skating rinks and slides in the five districts of the Kazakh capital. In addition to the winter attractions, street furniture and photo zones will be installed for residents and visitors to enjoy.

The Astana akimat (administration) reported on Dec. 20 that the New Year’s decorations are being prepared and the work is expected to be completed by Dec. 23-25, just in time for the holiday season. The decorations will be on display throughout the winter season, adding a festive and lively atmosphere to the city.

Despite the freezing temperatures, which make Astana the second coldest capital in the world, the city is embracing the winter holiday spirit. People can enjoy ice slides and skating rinks in various locations, including in front of the Zhastar Palace and near the EXPO town.

The 290-meter long skating rink is set to open in the Central Park this weekend, providing a fun and exciting activity for families and friends. Winter leisure sites will also be arranged near shopping and entertainment centers in the Nura District, allowing people to enjoy the holiday spirit while doing some holiday shopping.

In addition to these activities, winter leisure sites will be arranged in the Baikonyr District, offering more opportunities for outdoor fun in the snow. Residents will soon be able to ride the ice slides in the Almaty District, adding to the diverse range of winter attractions available in the city.

The preparations and installations of these winter attractions are sure to bring joy and excitement to the residents and visitors of Astana throughout the winter season. With the holiday decorations and leisure activities, the city is set to become a vibrant and lively winter wonderland for all to enjoy.
