GKK and Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent Sign Blood Donation Protocol
The Security Forces Command (GKK) and the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent recently signed a “Blood Donation Protocol” to address the increasing need for blood in the country. The protocol was signed by GKK Commander Major General Ilker Görgülü and Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent President Sezai Sezen.
The main aim of the protocol is to raise awareness about solidarity and encourage active participation of military personnel from GKK in the blood donation process. By providing training and support, the hope is to increase the number of military personnel engaging in blood donation and help meet the growing demand for blood in the country.
The Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent highlighted the importance of voluntary, unrequited, and regular blood donations in saving lives. They mentioned that blood donations have a significant impact on patients with thalassemia, oncology, dialysis treatment, surgeries, injuries, internal bleeding, childbirth, and organ transplantations.
Through these efforts, hundreds of lives are touched every year, and blood donations play a crucial role in supporting those in need of medical treatment. The collaboration between GKK and the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent is a strategic step towards ensuring an adequate supply of blood for healthcare services in the country.
