Góbéfest, Manchester’s original international urban folk music and dance festival, is making a comeback in Cathedral Gardens from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September 2024.

The festival, which is in its eighth year, will feature a lineup of talented performers including gypsy folk band Mobius Loop and klezmer and Balkan music experts She’Koyokh on Friday. On Saturday, audiences can enjoy a performance by the eight-piece central European folk ensemble Hungarian Band, fronted by Béla Szerény Jr.

In addition to the headliners, other acts scheduled to perform on two stages throughout the weekend include Koszika & the Hotshots, Karolina Wegrzyn & Banda, Csjilla, Réka-Kata Regián & Szabolcs Horváth, and the Solymosi Duo. More local and international artists are yet to be announced.

The festival promises a diverse lineup of bands, solo artists, folk dance troupes, choirs, and more. Attendees can also indulge in a variety of culinary delights from the Carpathian Basin, including traditional dishes like goulash, lángos, and chimney cakes, as well as Hungarian wine, craft beer, and palinka.

For families, the festival will offer free activities in the family tent, including music and dance workshops, arts and crafts, and storytelling sessions.

Established in 2017, Góbéfest celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Transylvania while showcasing top talent from the UK and Europe. The festival will now offer day or weekend tickets for Friday and Saturday, with Sunday remaining a free event known as Dance Day.
