Governor announces snow day for schools in select cities and districts on February 19, 2025
Schools in several provinces and districts in Turkey have been closed due to heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions. In Samsun, Kastamonu, Ordu, Amasya, Gumushane, Sinop, Slap, Corum, Bingol, Tunceli, and Yozgat, schools have been suspended on February 19 due to the snowfall. The governorships in these provinces and districts have issued statements regarding the closures, citing the safety of students, educators, and staff as a priority.
Governors have also announced that pregnant women, disabled individuals, and personnel with chronic health issues will be granted one day of administrative leave to ensure their safety during the adverse weather conditions. Additionally, preventive measures and precautions have been put in place to address any potential risks that may arise due to the ongoing snowfall.
