Grand National Assembly of Turkey Speaker Kurtulmuş pledges to propel Turkey to new heights
The Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Kurtulmuş, recently attended the Aybastı Thursday Plateau Wrestling and Culture Festivals. This festival, which is one of the oldest in Turkey and has been held for the 915th time this year, was organized with the support of the Ordu Metropolitan Municipality. While the protocol members greeted the participants, the wrestling matches continued.
In his speech at the event, Kurtulmuş emphasized the significance of these long-standing competitions in showcasing Turkey’s deep-rooted history and its rich cultural heritage. He described the festival as a symbol of courage, bravery, fraternity, and sportsmanship. Kurtulmuş further praised the participants for their moral virtues and emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity in moving the country forward.
Kurtulmuş expressed his commitment to working towards advancing Turkey in all areas. He stressed the need for Turkey to be a country that continually progresses, becomes stronger, and pioneers great achievements among nations worldwide. He urged the youth to compete in various fields, such as sports, culture, art, and science, with the aim of elevating Turkey to new heights.
The Governor of Ordu, Tuncay Sonel, expressed gratitude to everyone involved in organizing the event, highlighting the city’s cultural, tourism, and sports strengths. He mentioned previous wrestlers from Ordu who have become Olympic and world champions and expressed hope that more champions would emerge from the city in the future.
The Mayor of Ordu Metropolitan Municipality, Dr. Mehmet Hilmi Güler, announced that Ordu has now become one of the seven wrestling centers across Turkey’s 81 provinces. He invited wrestlers from all over Turkey to participate in the tournament, emphasizing the city’s commitment to preserving and promoting traditional sports. He expressed joy in the wide participation and declared Ordu’s determination to showcase these events not only to Turkey but also to the world.
The event concluded with the Turkish Traditional Wrestling Federation President İbrahim Türkiş and Aybastı Mayor Beytullah Geçtan presenting gifts to Speaker Kurtulmuş.
