Gridlock: Thousands of Vehicles Stranded in Lebanon as Northbound Exodus Drags On
Lebanon Faces Unprecedented Traffic and Israeli Attacks
According to the official Lebanese agency NNA, there is a significant traffic congestion on the roads due to the migration from the Zehrani region in the south of the country towards Saida. Thousands of vehicles were stranded on the roads, with traffic coming to a halt on the northern route for nearly 5 hours. Lebanese citizens waiting in their vehicles have called on security forces to intervene and help clear the traffic.
However, the traffic congestion is just one part of the crisis Lebanon is facing today. The Israeli army has conducted numerous airstrikes on Lebanon’s southern cities, as well as the Bekaa and Baalbek regions, resulting in the tragic loss of 356 lives, including 24 children and 42 women. Additionally, 1,246 people have been injured in the attacks.
The violence has led to a wave of migration from the southern regions of Lebanon to the capital city of Beirut and the northern areas. The Lebanese Ministry of Education has announced the suspension of education across the country, while the Ministry of Interior has opened schools in the south to accommodate those displaced by the Israeli attacks.
The situation in Lebanon is dire, with both heavy traffic and ongoing attacks causing chaos and devastation in the country. The international community is closely monitoring the situation and calling for an end to the violence to prevent further loss of life and displacement of innocent civilians.
