The Mysterious Disappearance of Gülistan Doku
Gülistan Doku, a university student from Turkey, vanished without a trace on January 5, 2020, and her whereabouts have remained unknown ever since. Despite extensive search efforts, no sign of her has been found, leaving her family and authorities baffled.
After her disappearance, her family filed a missing person report with the Police Department, and the search began. Security forces tracked her last known whereabouts through her mobile phone signals, which led them to the Sarı Saltuk Viaduct in Uzunçayır Dam Lake. An image of Gülistan Doku was captured on a camera passing over the viaduct, but it did not provide any substantial leads.
Despite the exhaustive search efforts involving various governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as volunteers, no trace of Gülistan was found, and the search was ultimately called off.
Two years after her disappearance, a breakthrough in the case occurred when her boyfriend, Zeinal A., was detained in the Alanya district of Antalya. However, after providing testimony, Zeinal A. was released under judicial control with a travel ban imposed on him.
Notably, a lawsuit was also filed against Zeinal A.’s father for disclosing personal information about Doku on social media. He was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for seizing and disseminating personal data. Additionally, it was revealed that Zeinal A.’s father had made positive statements on social media about a police officer who was involved in a high-profile case, leading to his dismissal from the police profession by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The disappearance of Gülistan Doku remains a mystery, and her family continues to seek answers about her whereabouts. The case has sparked public outrage and calls for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth about what happened to Gülistan on that fateful day in January 2020.
