Gümüşhane Plateaus Blanketed in Snow

The plateaus of Gümüşhane, a city known for its breathtaking landscapes in Turkey, have been transformed into a winter wonderland following heavy snowfall in recent days.

Despite the early snowfall this year, some locals have not abandoned their homes on the plateaus and are continuing to care for their livestock. While some transhumants are preparing to move their animals to lower elevations, others are holding out hope for a summer of pastrami.

With temperatures dropping below zero due to the mid-October snowfall, some areas saw snow depths exceeding 5 centimeters. The white blanket of snow not only covered the plateaus, but also extended to some high villages, creating a stunning and picturesque scene when combined with the fog.

Among the areas blanketed in snow were the Minarli Plateau in the Yücebelen village of Torul district and the historical Kadırga Plateau in Özkürtün Town of Kürtün district, famous for its open-top mosque.

The snow-covered plateaus of Gümüşhane have once again highlighted the natural beauty and allure of this unique region in Turkey.
