
Gunfire Erupts at Bahçelievler Hospital: Latest Update

Gunfire erupted at Bahçelievler State Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey on Saturday, August 31st, leaving 5 people injured. The suspects, who arrived at the hospital’s emergency room, opened fire towards the building, injuring a hospital police officer, a gendarmerie, a hospital security guard, and 2 relatives of a patient.
Tragically, one person lost their life and another was injured in an armed attack that occurred on Mahmutbey Street on the same night. Following an investigation by the Organized Crime Investigation Bar Association of the Bakırköy Republic Chief Prosecutor’s Office, it was determined that the two incidents were connected. As a result, 11 suspects were arrested for the crime of “being a member of an organization established for the purpose of committing a crime.”
Furthermore, five more individuals were detained as part of the ongoing investigation. Identified as members of the organization known as “Atız-Casper,” they were also brought before the Criminal Court of Peace with a request for arrest. Four of the suspects were subsequently taken into custody, bringing the total number of arrests related to these incidents to 15.
The situation at Bahçelievler State Hospital highlights the need for increased security measures to ensure the safety of healthcare workers, patients, and visitors. Authorities are continuing their investigations to bring those responsible for the violence to justice.
