Güzelyurt Celebrates 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Turkey
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey, a ceremony was held in Güzelyurt in front of the Atatürk Monument. The event was attended by officials and citizens, who gathered to honor this significant milestone.
The ceremony began with the placement of wreaths on the monument, following the protocol order. A moment of silence was observed, and the national flags were raised accompanied by the National Anthem, symbolizing the pride and unity of the nation.
Combat Lieutenant Yasin Gez delivered a speech during the ceremony, highlighting the significance of this day. He emphasized that the republic is Atatürk’s greatest gift to the Turkish people and represents a civilized lifestyle that will endure for generations to come.
In addition to the speeches, Güzelyurt Turkish Maarif College History Teacher Meryem Birmeç provided valuable information about the War of Independence. She emphasized that the establishment of the republic was the greatest victory achieved as a result of this war, representing the determination and resilience of the Turkish people.
The ceremony also featured the reading of poems, adding a touch of artistic expression to the event. A procession took place from the Atatürk Monument to the front of the Güzelyurt Grand Bazaar, accompanied by a band, creating a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere.
To conclude the ceremony, the Security Forces band performed a concert, leaving the attendees with a sense of unity and patriotism.
