Gyurcsány’s Party to Field Candidates in All 106 Electoral Districts in 2026

The Democratic Coalition (DK) has announced their plans to field candidates in all 106 individual constituencies in the upcoming 2026 general election, as stated by the party’s leader, Ferenc Gyurcsány, on Saturday.
Gyurcsány confirmed that DK will begin unveiling their candidates in early November during an event commemorating the 13th anniversary of the party’s establishment. In a speech streamed online, Gyurcsány criticized Prime Minister Viktor Orbán for dictating the nation’s narrative and claimed that only the Democratic Coalition could provide a trustworthy storyline.
Addressing the opposition’s defeat in the 2022 election, Gyurcsány attributed the loss not to their collaboration but rather to their lack of a unified message. He emphasized the importance of Hungary strengthening its ties with Europe in order to compete on a global scale, advocating for both Hungarian sovereignty and European unity.
Furthermore, Gyurcsány proposed the formation of a new coalition of democratic nations that share Western values. Klara Dobrev, DK’s Member of the European Parliament, expressed pride in the party’s unwavering commitment to their vision for Europe, Hungary, and the world.
As the 2026 general election approaches, the Democratic Coalition aims to present a cohesive and compelling platform to voters across the country. Stay tuned for further updates on their candidate announcements and campaign initiatives.
