Minister Hakan Fidan Meets with Nigerien Counterpart in Niamey
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently shared on social media that Minister Hakan Fidan had a meeting with Niger’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Nigeriens Living Abroad, Bakary Yaou, in Niamey. The visit was a part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations between Turkey and Niger.
During the meeting, Minister Fidan participated in a joint working session alongside other high-ranking officials, including Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar, and Head of the National Intelligence Organization İbrahim Kalın. Also present were President of Defense Industries Haluk Görgün, Deputy Minister of Trade Özgür Volkan Ağar, Prime Minister of Niger, and Minister of Economy and Finance Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine.
Diplomatic sources revealed that discussions during the visit focused on enhancing bilateral political and economic ties. The officials exchanged views on potential areas of collaboration to further strengthen their cooperation. Additionally, the ongoing developments in the Sahel region and regional issues, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, were also addressed.
