Harnessing Renewable Energy Technologies to Meet Rising Energy Demand
President Ersin Tatar attends the Chamber of Electrical Engineers’ New Year Event
President Ersin Tatar recently attended a new year event organized by the Chamber of Electrical Engineers, where he conveyed his pleasure at joining the celebration and extended his best wishes for the new year to all attendees.
During his speech at the event, President Tatar discussed plans to open a new border gate in Haspolat to alleviate congestion at the Metehan border gate. Despite facing resistance and unreasonable demands from the Greek side, President Tatar reiterated the Turkish side’s commitment to opening the Haspolat border gate.
President Tatar highlighted the potential benefits of a border gate in the Haspolat region, emphasizing how it could enhance commercial and humanitarian relations between the two sides. He mentioned conducting inspections of the area alongside key figures such as the Mayor of Nicosia Turkish Municipality Mehmet Harmancı, the President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce Turgay Deniz, and the President of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Industry Ali Kamacıoğlu.
In addressing the growing energy needs, President Tatar stressed the importance of utilizing renewable energy technologies, specifically solar energy. He commended the work of electrical engineers in advancing renewable energy and solar power initiatives, underscoring their crucial role in the country’s development.
President Tatar also proposed solutions to address Cyprus’ energy challenges, including importing electricity from Turkey through cables and integrating the Greek side into the European Interconnected System via Turkey.
Recognizing the significant responsibilities of electrical engineers in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, President Tatar expressed his confidence in their capabilities and wished them success in their endeavors.
