Hasipoğlu Defends Teknofest Against Calls to Boycott, Aligns with Modern Values

UBP Secretary General Emphasizes New Opportunities and Developments for TRNC
In a recent interview with BRT, UBP Secretary General Oguzhan Hasipoglu addressed a variety of topics concerning the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), expressing optimism about the future and inviting the public to participate in significant upcoming events.
Opening of the New Assembly Building
Hasipoglu highlighted the completion of the new Assembly building, noting, “We will now sit in the orange seats in the new building, not in the red seats.” He described the environment as uniquely beneficial for both staff and deputies, urging citizens to attend the opening ceremony. “We invite all our people to the opening of the building,” he stated, marking a new chapter for the Assembly.
Strengthening Ties with Turkish States
The Secretary General discussed recent developments within the Turkish States Organization, emphasizing that there will be no engagement with the Greek Cypriot Administration. “You will see, we will continue to have high-level meetings with the Turkish states in the future,” he asserted, reaffirming TRNC’s position in diplomatic discussions.
Responding to suggestions from the Greek side, Hasipoglu reiterated that the TRNC is the rightful interlocutor, dismissing attempts to establish relations with Türkiye as “futile efforts.” He concluded, “They will understand that the topic is the TRNC.”
Legislative Developments
Addressing the issue of UBP Deputy Emrah Yeşilırmak’s immunity, Hasipoglu confirmed that a confidentiality decision is in place. This decision is expected to be brought before the general assembly by May 5, but noted that they do not have the authority to decide on the removal of immunity as a committee.
Promoting Youth Engagement at Teknofest
Hasipoglu also emphasized the importance of Teknofest, describing it as a vital opportunity for young people in TRNC. “Our young people can expand their horizons and significantly enhance their professional processes,” he encouraged, inviting parents to take their children to the event. He portrayed Teknofest as a critical platform for modern advancement and urged families to seize this opportunity.
“Evaluate this opportunity well; do not deprive your children of this chance,” Hasipoglu urged, underlining the importance of making significant investments for Teknofest despite the challenging economic climate.
Conclusion
With the new Assembly building set to open and key opportunities such as Teknofest on the horizon, Hasipoglu’s remarks reflect a proactive vision for the future of TRNC, focusing on advancement, engagement, and international cooperation. The upcoming events promise to foster development and connectivity, bridging gaps between youth and modern technology.
