A tragic accident occurred in New York City as a helicopter fell into the Hudson River, resulting in the loss of 6 lives. The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed the incident in a statement on social media, directing first aid teams to the scene immediately.
Reports from the US press indicate that the helicopter was likely being used for tourist purposes at the time of the accident. New York Mayor Eric Adams revealed in a press conference that among the victims were 3 adults, 3 children, and a family from Spain who were visiting the city.
NYPD commissioner Jessica Tisch stated that 4 people were pronounced dead at the scene, while 2 others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. The names of the victims have not been released as authorities are in the process of notifying their families.
