Heroic man dies saving child from drowning in Eskişehir canal
A tragic incident unfolded in the Tepebaşı district of Eskişehir when İrfan Bağrıaçık bravely jumped into a canal to rescue a child who had fallen into the water. In a selfless act of heroism, Bağrıaçık managed to pull the child to safety, but was tragically swept away by the strong current in the process.
Upon receiving the distressing news, various emergency response teams including health officials, police, fire department, AFAD, AKUT, IHH, and Iz Search and Rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the area to assist with the rescue efforts.
Search and rescue operations were launched to locate İrfan Bağrıaçık, with police securing the area and AKUT teams deploying a boat to search the water’s surface. Despite their best efforts, the lifeless body of Bağrıaçık was eventually discovered by AFAD divers approximately 500 meters away from where he had disappeared.
Following the recovery of his body, İrfan Bağrıaçık was transported to the hospital morgue for further examination. Meanwhile, the 9-year-old child, identified as İ.M.E., whom Bağrıaçık had saved from drowning, is currently receiving medical treatment at Yunus Emre State Hospital.
This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the courage and selflessness displayed by individuals like İrfan Bağrıaçık, who put their own lives at risk to save others in times of need.
