
Herse Night: Honoring the Legacy of Theatre Artist Yücel Köseoğlu

The 8th Herse Night, organized by the Leymosun Cultural Foundation, was a special event dedicated to honoring the late ‘Yücel Köseoğlu’, a prominent figure in the Turkish Cypriot Theatre community. The evening was filled with heartfelt speeches and cultural performances that celebrated his legacy.
Yücem Rasımoğlu, President of the Leymosun Culture Foundation, highlighted the foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting the arts and cultural heritage of the region. Kürşat Köseoğlu, the son of Yücel Köseoğlu, expressed gratitude for the event held in his father’s honor, emphasizing the importance of preserving Cypriot culture for future generations.
The event was attended by esteemed guests, including Director of the Department of Culture Şirin Zaferyıldızı and Famagusta Mayor Süleyman Uluçay. Mayor Uluçay paid tribute to Yücel Köseoğlu’s contributions to the Turkish Cypriot community and underscored the significance of events like Herse Night in keeping cultural traditions alive.
Throughout the evening, attendees enjoyed live music, a tombola raffle, folk dance performances, and delicious traditional food such as herse and Leymosun dessert. A variety of local products were also available for purchase at the event, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Leymosun.
