Hıdırellez Festival Celebrated with Enthusiasm in Beyoğlu
The Beyoğlu Municipality organized the Hıdırellez Festival with the theme of ‘Spring in Beyoğlu’. Citizens came together to celebrate the arrival of spring with colorful events at the festival, which began at 18.00 in Kızılay Square. The festivities kicked off with a concert by singer Fahrettin Sekmeç, followed by performances by magicians, pantomimes, jugglers, fire dancers, clowns, a Roman Dance Show, and a concert by Grup Kapilo. The atmosphere was filled with joy and excitement as citizens enjoyed the various activities. To mark the occasion, Hıdırellez balloons were released into the sky after Beyoğlu Mayor İnan Güney delivered a speech.
In his address, Mayor İnan Güney emphasized the importance of celebrating all holidays with enthusiasm, stating “We will celebrate all our national, religious, and spiritual holidays with great joy. We will continue to organize similar events in different neighborhoods of Beyoğlu, so that everyone can feel the presence of our municipality. Hıdırellez is a day symbolizing the revival of nature, and today, Beyoğlu has come alive once again. Let’s celebrate the holidays of all identities in Beyoğlu.”
Citizens who attended the festival expressed their enjoyment and appreciation for the event. Nermin Konar shared her childhood memories of celebrating Hıdırellez, saying “This place is completely different for me.” Oya İdacı expressed her joy at being able to have fun again after many restrictions, stating “After many prohibitions, we are now free. We are very happy.” Melahat Kemaloğlu highlighted the significance of Hıdırellez as a symbol of peace, brotherhood, love, and abundance, thanking the Mayor for organizing such a successful event.
