High-Level Summit between Presidents of Turkmenistan and Armenia
President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, recently met with the President of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Khachaturyan, during the latter’s working visit to Turkmenistan on 11 October 2024.
The meeting took place in the context of an international forum called “Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development,” which was organized in honor of the anniversary of renowned poet and thinker, Magtymguly Fragi. President Berdimuhamedov expressed his gratitude to President Khachaturyan for accepting the invitation to participate in this important event.
Both presidents highlighted the significance of the forum in strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between Turkmenistan and Armenia. They discussed various areas of bilateral cooperation, focusing on trade, economy, transportation, agriculture, and tourism. The importance of the Intergovernmental Commission in advancing interstate relations and implementing agreements was also emphasized.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the leaders to exchange views on the current state and future prospects of Turkmen-Armenian partnership. They acknowledged the successful cooperation between the two countries in both bilateral and multilateral settings, as well as within international organizations.
As a token of appreciation, President Khachaturyan presented President Berdimuhamedov with a collection of poems by Magtymguly Fragi translated into Armenian. The meeting concluded with both presidents extending their best wishes to each other and expressing confidence in the continued development of interstate cooperation based on the principles of good-neighbourliness, friendship, and brotherhood for the benefit of their peoples.
