Highlights of Organization of Turkic States Informal Meeting in New York
Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu highlighted the achievements of Kazakhstan’s 2023-2024 chairmanship of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) during an informal meeting of OTS foreign ministers on the sidelines of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York on Sept. 25.
Nurtleu emphasized the significance of the meeting, which took place on the eve of the OTS’s 15th anniversary and ahead of its 11th summit in Bishkek, the Kyrgyz Republic. Under Kazakhstan’s OTS chairmanship, characterized by the TURKTIME slogan, more than 80 events were organized, including the fifth World Nomad Games.
The vital role of Turkic integration on the global stage was also underscored by Nurtleu during the meeting. Discussions among participants focused on enhancing cooperation within the OTS and preparing for the upcoming summit. Additionally, the importance of strengthening OTS collaboration with international organizations such as the UN and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) was highlighted.
In conclusion, the meeting participants reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation within the OTS and emphasized the significance of joint efforts towards a common goal: bolstering the unity and solidarity of Turkic countries.
