Highway Tanker Overturns and Catches Fire

A fuel-loaded tanker overturned and caught fire on the Tarsus-Adana-Gaziantep (TAG) Motorway in the Central Sarıçam district of Şahintepe neighborhood. The incident occurred in the direction of Hasan Taşdemir’s neighborhood, where the driver lost control of the tanker, causing it to overturn and ignite.
The driver of the burning tanker was rescued by the District Police Department teams, despite sustaining minor injuries to his arm. He was taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Gendarmerie and Metropolitan Municipality Fire Brigade teams were quick to respond to the scene.
After securing the area and closing the road to traffic, firefighters worked diligently to extinguish the flames engulfing the tanker. The fire was eventually brought under control, but not before causing a 5-kilometer long vehicle tailback on the highway.
Cleanup crews were called in to address the fuel spillage from the accident, ensuring that the area was safe for travel once again. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the swift response of emergency services in times of crisis.
