
Holguin Meets with LTB President Harmancı

The Personal Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar, recently visited Nicosia Turkish Municipality (LTB) Mayor Mehmet Harmancı during her trip to Cyprus.
During their meeting, which took place at LTB, Harmancı highlighted the significance of the Nicosia Master Plan, a bi-communal initiative aimed at bridging the gap between the Turkish and Greek communities on the island. He also showcased visuals related to the Kanlıdere Project, a joint effort between LTB and Nicosia Greek Municipality.
Harmancı expressed optimism about the potential of the Master Plan to serve as a confidence-building measure and emphasized the need to find ways to overcome obstacles in the path towards reconciliation. He welcomed Holguin’s efforts to bring different perspectives to the table and facilitate dialogue between the two communities.
Holguin, on her second visit to Cyprus since assuming office, is scheduled to meet with political party representatives in the coming days. Her visit signals a commitment to fostering peace and cooperation between the Turkish and Greek communities in Cyprus.
