Homeowner Arrested for Robbing 400 Thousand Liras
Woman Rented a House in Bursa and was Defrauded by Her Landlord
A woman in Bursa fell victim to a fraud committed by her landlord. The tenant, who became suspicious, discovered that her landlord was the culprit, thanks to a security camera she had installed in the house. It was revealed that the suspect, who was apprehended by the police, had stolen jewelry and foreign currency worth 400,000 liras from the tenant.
Ecem Gökçe S. (33) recently rented a house on 2nd Kızıl Street in the Bağlarbaşı District of Central Osmangazi. She developed neighborly relations with her landlord, Ayşegül K. (42). However, after some time, Ecem Gökçe S. noticed that her jewelry box and currency were missing, prompting her to install a security camera in her house.
Ecem Gökçe S., who continued her neighborly relations with Ayşegül K., invited her over for tea. When it was time to pay the rent, Ecem took out dollars from her pocket and handed them over to the landlord, after which they went their separate ways. Later, while Ecem Gökçe S. was out enjoying herself, she received a notification on her mobile phone alerting her to check the camera recordings. Shockingly, she saw her landlord taking money from the box containing her valuable items.
Upon reporting the incident to the police, Bursa Public Security Branch Directorate’s Theft Bureau launched an operation against the landlord, based on the surveillance footage. The authorities found money and gold during their investigation, leading to the arrest of Ayşegül K.
Ayşegül K. was later taken to court and arrested following her procedures at the police station.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and taking necessary precautions to protect one’s belongings, even in seemingly trustworthy situations. Installing security cameras and alarm systems can be an effective measure to deter potential criminals and gather evidence in case of any unfortunate events.
