Hong Kong Airlines to Launch Flights to Almaty and Astana
ASTANA – In a significant development for air connectivity, Hong Kong Airlines has announced plans to commence passenger flights to Almaty and Astana. This news came to light during a visit by Kazakh Vice Minister of Transport Talgat Lastayev to Hong Kong International Airport on April 29, as reported by the ministry’s press service.
The discussions centered around expanding transportation links and enhancing trade routes between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong. Key meetings were held with several high-profile representatives, including Kelvin Ma, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Transport and Logistics Bureau, and Vivian Cheung, CEO of Airport Authority Hong Kong. The talks also included senior officials from major regional carriers such as Hong Kong Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Hong Kong Air Cargo.
Hong Kong International Airport continues to hold a prestigious position in global logistics, ranked the number one airport in the world for air cargo for the past 14 years. In 2024, the airport successfully managed an impressive 4.9 million tons of cargo, further solidifying its status as a critical hub for international trade.
The anticipated flights are expected to foster closer ties between Kazakhstan and Hong Kong, enhancing tourism and business opportunities in both regions.
