HP’s Visit to Lefke Covered by BRTK

The People’s Party (HP) Chairman, Kudret Özersay, has raised concerns about a public order problem in Lefke and has called for an explanation as to why the zoning plan for Lefke has not been implemented despite being ready.

Speaking to the press during his visits, which included meetings with Lefke District Governor Sadi Güneş and Mayor Aziz Kaya, HP Chairman Özersay emphasized the party’s commitment to addressing the issues faced by citizens.

Özersay stressed that Lefke is facing serious problems, pointing out that the decision to make Lefke a district was merely a formality without proper preparations. He accused authorities of neglecting Lefke’s development and treating it like a “stepchild.”

In light of the public order problem, Özersay called for increased police presence in the region, advocating for the transformation of the local police station into a police directorate and the reinforcement of personnel. He also urged for the prompt establishment of a court in Lefke.

Furthermore, Özersay demanded an explanation for the delay in publishing the Lefke Zoning Plan, questioning whether it would suffer the same fate as the Famagusta-Yeniboğaziçi-İskele Zoning Plan, which faced significant delays.

The HP Chairman’s remarks shed light on the challenges facing Lefke and underscore the urgent need for action to address the public order problem and advance the region’s development.
