Hubert Kós Shines at Star-Studded Swimming Championship in Florida

Hungarian swimmer Hubert Kós showcased his exceptional talent at the prestigious Pro Swim Series in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, securing three medals against a competitive field of elite international athletes. The 22-year-old’s remarkable performances have further established him as a rising star in the swimming world.

Kós achieved his first podium finish on Thursday, competing in the 50-meter backstroke. He claimed third place with a time of 24.81 seconds, just shy of his own Hungarian national record of 24.62 seconds, which he had set earlier in April during the Championships in Kaposvár.

His first golden moment arrived on Friday when he dominated the 200-meter backstroke. Kós finished with an impressive time of 1:56.45, outpacing second-place finisher Gavin Keogh of the U.S. by more than two seconds, affirming his prowess in this discipline.

Kós continued to demonstrate his strength on Sunday by winning the 100-meter backstroke. He impressed the audience with a time of 53.14 seconds, leaving his competitors trailing, including Jack Harvey, who finished second, nearly one and a half seconds behind.

Later that same day, Kós faced a formidable challenge in the 200-meter medley, competing against his teammate and four-time Olympic champion Léon Marchand from France, who was making a comeback following the Paris Games. In this race, Kós finished fifth, clocking a time of 1:59.35, while American Shaine Casas claimed victory.

Last year, Kós was named Hungarian Male Athlete of the Year after winning a gold medal in the 200-meter backstroke at the Paris Olympics, solidifying his status within the sport.

With performances like these, Hubert Kós is undoubtedly an athlete to watch as he continues to make waves in the swimming community.
