Hungarian Actress Honored with International Award for Excellence

Hungarian actress Enikő Eszenyi will be honored with the European Actor Lifetime Award at the 21st International Theater Festival of Northern Macedonia. The festival, which is one of the most important cultural events in the country, will take place from July 6 to 11 on the shores of Lake Prespa.

The opening ceremony of the festival will feature speeches by the Mayor of Resen, Jovan Tozievski, and the president of the festival jury, Meto Jovanovski. Festival director Jordan Plevnes will pay tribute to Enikő Eszenyi’s acting career during the award ceremony.

Enikő Eszenyi is a renowned Hungarian actor, director, and theater director. She is widely recognized for her work at the Vígszínház in Budapest, where she served as both an actor and director from 2009 to 2020. Throughout her career, she has received more than 40 awards, including the Jászai Mari Award and the Kossuth Prize. In 2010, she was also honored with the titles of Merited Artist and Ambassador of Hungarian Culture.

Enikő Eszenyi has played numerous important roles throughout her career, including Shakespeare’s Lady Anne, Lady Macbeth, and Cleopatra. She was named the most influential Hungarian woman in culture by Forbes in 2015 and 2016. Her husband was actor Attila Kaszás until 2001.

In addition to honoring Enikő Eszenyi, the festival will also recognize the work of Macedonian graphic designer and typographer Lasko Dzurovski with the Prespa Keys Award.

The 21st International Theater Festival of Northern Macedonia promises to be a celebration of outstanding talent and a showcase of the vibrant theater scene in the region.
