Hungarian Boxing Association Rewards Luca Hámori with Bronze Medal Equivalent Prize Money

Despite the defeat to Algeria’s Imane Khelif, Hámori will be awarded prize money equivalent to that of a bronze medal winner.
The Hungarian Boxing Association made the decision to supplement Hámori’s prize to match the amount received by a bronze medalist, totaling HUF 31 million (EUR 77,750). Of this amount, the association will contribute HUF 16 million (EUR 40,000) towards recognizing Hámori’s efforts in the competition. The association did not provide a specific reason for this decision, but it highlights their support and appreciation for the boxer’s achievements.
While Hámori will be receiving a significant prize for her performance, her opponent Imane Khelif has been a topic of discussion following her impressive victories in the Olympic games. Despite controversies surrounding Khelif, including her exclusion from last year’s World Championships due to high testosterone levels, Hámori chose to face her in the match.
Following the match, there were calls for Hámori to be penalized for sharing questionable and controversial content about Khelif on social media.
