Hungarian Company to Rebuild Village in Nagorno-Karabakh
A cornerstone ceremony was recently held in the village of Soltanli in Nagorno-Karabakh, marking the beginning of a rebuilding project by a Hungarian company, announced the minister of foreign affairs and trade, Péter Szijjártó, on Friday.
Szijjártó stated that the project will allow 5,000-6,000 people to return to the village, bringing hope and opportunities for the local community.
According to the ministry, an agreement has been reached between Baku and Budapest, under which Hungarian companies will undertake the reconstruction of Soltanli. The KESZ Group has already signed a contract to begin the work, which will include the rebuilding of residential buildings, community facilities, hospitals, schools, kindergarten, and sports facilities.
“This cornerstone ceremony is the first step towards comprehensive reconstruction, and another sign of the true friendship between Hungary and Azerbaijan,” Szijjártó commented during the event.
As the first European Union foreign minister to visit the region, Szijjártó expressed the desire for a prompt signing of a peace treaty to end the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He emphasized Hungary’s commitment to developing a strong strategic friendship with Azerbaijan, based on mutual respect and support.
In addition, Szijjártó underscored that Hungary’s friendship with Azerbaijan extends beyond economic ties, emphasizing their stance in support of Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The rebuilding of Soltanli represents a significant step towards the restoration of normalcy and stability in the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and symbolizes the ongoing cooperation and friendship between Hungary and Azerbaijan.
