Hungarian Person Attempts Highway Code Exam 23 Times in Five Years
In a surprising turn of events, a Hungarian individual has attempted to pass the highway code exam a staggering 23 times in the span of five years, earning them the title of the Hungarian negative record holder. This information comes from the Centre for Transport Aptitude and Examination (Közlekedési Alkalmassági és Vizsgaközpont, KAV).
According to data from KAV, in 2023, there were 415 category B candidates who took the exam 10 times, 243 people attempted it 11 times, and 151 individuals tried a total of 12 times before eventually passing. These statistics shed light on the persistence and determination of individuals seeking to obtain their highway code certification.
Furthermore, data from kreszvaltozas.hu reveals that 98,314 people successfully passed the category B test in 2018, with the numbers slightly fluctuating in the subsequent years – 103,972 in 2019, 92,480 in 2020, 93,680 in 2021, and 99,174 in 2022.
In addition, interesting tidbits from the portal indicate that in the last five years, the oldest candidate to take the category B highway code exam in 2021 was 89 years old at the time of the exam, ultimately giving up after three unsuccessful attempts. Conversely, in 2020, an 82-year-old candidate managed to pass on their very first try, showcasing that age is not necessarily a barrier to success in this endeavor.
