
Hungarian Fencing Teams Shine with Medal Wins Abroad

Hungarian fencers made their mark over the weekend, bringing home several medals from both international and domestic competitions.
In Budapest, the Hungarian national team clinched a silver medal at the Zarándi Csaba Men’s Sabre Team World Cup. The team, comprised of Olympic silver medalists András Szatmári, Csanád Gémesi, Krisztián Rabb, and Bertalan Tóth, defeated strong opponents such as Thailand, Poland, Italy, and the United States on their way to the final. However, they faced tough competition from Egypt in the final and ultimately settled for second place after a hard-fought battle.
Coach Nemcsik expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting the resilience and determination displayed by the fencers. He praised Krisztián Rabb for his role as the team’s finisher and emphasized the importance of consistency in their lineup going forward.
In another successful outing, Gergely Siklósi secured victories at the Marrakesh Épée World Cup, claiming the individual title on Saturday and contributing to the team’s triumph on Sunday. Alongside Eszter Muhari, Siklósi showcased exceptional skill and composure throughout the competition, leading the Hungarian squad to victory against formidable opponents.
The Hungarian women’s sabre team also made their mark at the Cairo World Cup, earning a silver medal in a closely contested final against France. Despite the loss, the team’s performance was commendable, showcasing their talent and determination on the international stage.
