Hungarian FM Discusses ‘Color Revolutions’ with Serbian Counterpart in Budapest
Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó of Hungary has expressed concerns about the impact of “colour revolutions” instigated by international actors in various parts of the world. In a joint press conference with Serbia’s minister for European integration, Tanja Miscevic, Szijjártó highlighted the tragic outcomes and destabilization caused by these revolutions.
Szijjártó emphasized that Serbia, along with other central European countries with patriotic governments, has been experiencing serious outside interference. He praised US President Donald Trump for abandoning political strategies based on interfering in other countries’ internal affairs and called for investigations to identify foreign financial resources influencing political and media players in the region.
In addition to discussing foreign interference, Szijjártó stressed the importance of sovereignty and energy security, particularly in the relationship between Hungary and Serbia. He condemned recent attacks on energy infrastructure critical to Hungary’s energy supply and called on Ukraine to cease such actions to avoid disruptions in energy deliveries.
Furthermore, Szijjártó expressed Hungary’s support for Serbia’s EU accession and urged Brussels and member states to facilitate the integration process without hindrance. He pledged Hungary’s continued support in speeding up Serbia’s path to EU membership.
Overall, Szijjártó’s statements underscore the need for respect of sovereignty, stability, and cooperation in the region, while cautioning against external interference and disruptions in critical infrastructure.
