Hungarian Government Backs Renovation of Transylvanian University Building

The Hungarian government is continuing its support for the Hungarian Sapientia University of Transylvania by providing 560 million forints (EUR 1.4m) for the refurbishment of another property in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Culture Minister Balázs Hankó made the announcement on Friday, stating that the historical monument in the centre of Cluj will be renovated to serve as accommodation for guest professors and to host specialized courses.
“Our mission is to ensure that Hungarian youth in the Carpathian Basin can acquire competitive skills while preserving their Hungarian identity,” said Minister Hanko during a press conference at the building.
The single-storey building was purchased by the Sapientia Foundation with a grant provided by the Hungarian government in 2021, showcasing the ongoing support for the university’s development. This initiative aims to provide students with a high-quality learning environment and opportunities for academic growth.
The investment in the refurbishment of this property highlights the commitment of the Hungarian government to strengthen educational institutions in the region and promote cultural and academic exchange. With this support, the Hungarian Sapientia University of Transylvania can continue to offer valuable educational experiences and contribute to the development of the local community.
