Hungarian Government Seeks EU Assistance for Border Protection from Illegal Migration

The call for an end to double standards in the European Union regarding border protection and illegal migration continues as the Minister in charge of European Union affairs, János Bóka, speaks out. Bóka has urged the EU to support member states that are actively protecting the community’s external borders and stopping illegal migration, rather than punishing them.
Highlighting the efforts of Poland in building a massive fence system on its eastern border with EU support and suspending the assessment of asylum requests under new legislation, Bóka emphasized the importance of strengthening external borders and refusing asylum to illegal migrants. However, he noted that Hungary, which has also invested in a similar border protection system, has been fined 1 million euros daily for its efforts instead of receiving support from the EU.
Bóka criticized these double standards as unfair and called for equal support to be extended to all member states that are working towards protecting external borders and combatting illegal migration. It is imperative for the EU to provide assistance rather than punishment in these crucial efforts.
As discussions on border protection and illegal migration continue within the European Union, the need for a unified approach and fair treatment of member states remains a pressing issue.
