Hungarian Men’s 4x400m Relay Team Wins Bronze at World Athletics Indoor Championships
In a historic achievement, the Hungarian men’s 4×400 meters relay team secured the bronze medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing on March 23, 2025. The team, consisting of Patrik Enyingi, Zoltán Wahl, Árpád Kovács, and Attila Molnár, delivered a stellar performance, setting a new national record with a time of 3:06.03 minutes.
The final race featured strong competition from the United States, Jamaica, Sri Lanka, and host nation China. Enyingi kickstarted the race for Hungary, holding onto third place by the first baton exchange. Wahl faced tough competition but managed to regain third place during his leg. Kovács maintained composure and strategic positioning to secure Hungary’s spot in third place. Molnár, anchoring the team, showcased exceptional speed, overtaking the Chinese runner and clinching the bronze medal for Hungary.
The United States finished first with a time of 3:03.13 minutes, followed by Jamaica in second place at 3:05.05 minutes. Hungary’s bronze medal finish not only marked a significant milestone but also broke the previous national record by two and a half seconds.
This achievement adds to Hungary’s successful history in indoor athletics, marking the sixth medal at the World Indoor Championships and the first since 2018. Attila Molnár’s anchor leg was particularly impressive, completing his 400 meters in 44.72 seconds—the fastest split among all competitors in the final. His recent triumph as the European indoor champion further emphasizes his exceptional form this season.
